Thanks to all who have been praying for Lynn Ivey, Amy's dad. Lynn was in Atlanta for surgery yesterday to remove cancerous tumors from his liver. The report was not what we had hoped - though we are not without hope!The surgeon said (as best I understand from Amy) that the right side of the liver is basically filled with tumors. There is also a large tumor that has grown from the right side of the liver into the left. The doc said that if he removed the right side and that portion of the left that included the large tumor, Lynn would not be left with enough liver to survive. The doctor said that he cut off about 95% of the blood flow to the right side of the liver, and re-routed it to the left side. He believes that this will help the left side of the liver to grow large enough that they will be able to more safely remove all the tumors. Lynn will be in ATL for a few days. He will possibly have more treatments until the next surgery. Pray with us that the left side of the liver will grow larger and faster than the doctors imagined so that this procedure can take place.
